Free Training for CHWs

Caring California is a FREE training series for community health workers (CHWs) and other frontline health workers in home and community based settings (HCBS) across the State of California.

Gain new technical skills, learn how to bill Medi-Caid, be inspired by the experiences of others, and build new partnerships—there are a multitude of training topics being offered by our 15+ training partners. By upskilling and empowering our workforce, we can better support the health and well-being of our community members.

Yes, all Caring California trainings are completely free! All you have to do is register on our site.

Phone numbers are used by Caring4Cal, the training sponsor, as a unique identifier and to help to track training completion for those interested in earning the stipend.

Yes, there are no restrictions to who can register and participate in this training series, but training stipends are limited to California CHWs and other HCBS workers, as listed in the eligibility above.

Most training sessions will be hosted online at a set date and time, but recordings will then be posted online to watch at your convenience. We hope this helps to make the trainings as accessible as possible.

Certificates of completion are given after each training course and archived on your Caring California profile.

Yes, to receive the stipend you may use either your social security number or your individual tax identification number.

Yes, the stipend is considered taxable income and will need to be reported at the end of the financial year.
